It is not surprising that the police can come up with the idea to lodge a report against malaysiakini the first chance they can get.

The many untruths in the country does not seem to bother the authorities with all of it being accepted and practised without even the slightest apology from the arrogant authorities.

So what is the big deal if the report said of 'possible' police involvement? Do the police think that the Malaysian public is so daft that they swallow every bit of information meted out by the press?

In this instance, the report was corrected almost immediately, but the police must have their 'pound of flesh' so it seems. No amount of 'good guy' posturing by the police will remove the negativism instilled about the force for years and years, especially the selective way they have been taking action on various groups of protesters.
