I refer to the report Khairy slammed for playing racial card .

Here we go again. A further exhibition of idiocy by one whose days in Oxford obviously were wasted. I refer to the puerile and gratuitous remarks of Khairy Jamaluddin in the above report about the Chinese exploiting Malay disunity to advance the former's interests.

As one who grew up in a generation where the Chinese were used as scapegoats to advance Malay interests, I find it disturbing that a politician under Premier Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's leadership should even think such thoughts let alone express them publicly as they are insulting to the Chinese community.

Whether it is the MCA, Gerakan, or DAP, they have all showed enormous maturity and willingness to sacrifice Chinese rights so that the Malays can advance. They have no need to take advantage of the Malays.

It seems to me that this novice political wannabe is willing to destroy the cordial relations between the Malays and Chinese to deflect the political flak from his own failures.

People of my generation have seen enough of the ultras who have tapped into the people's psychological weaknesses and used the race card to become strong and then exploit their own people.

What is happening today is not the threat from the Chinese but the expose of the Great Malay Con - Malays who use race and religion as a pretext to cheat their own people.

Let me reiterate, the Malays have nothing to fear from the Chinese but have more to fear from the likes of Khairy and crony politicians who act shamelessly, make silly statements and take the country down the tubes.

The Malay Dilemma provided the ideological framework for a lot of Mahathir's policies, and the non-Malays are to be praised - not insulted - for their graciousness in allowing the Malays to advance.

The Chinese will not overreact but it needs be said that it is unbecoming of a Barisan Nasional leader to talk like that. But then again Malaysians are used to the doublespeak of those who will desperately do and say anything to stay in power.

Khairy owes an apology to the Chinese community and to those who are trying hard to unite the country.
