I refer to the letter Mahathir's turn to accept decisions now. I am afraid I must disagree with the writer's final two paragraphs.
Any citizen of Malaysia should always stand up and express his views include questioning the ruling party on any practice that is questionable. Dr Mahathir Mohamad should have the freedom to speech even though he has stepped down as prime minister.
I'm very glad that he still voices out on national issues instead of taking the easy way out and retiring in comfort and luxury. Mahathir, I agree, might have hidden agendas but any comments that are potentially good for the people should be always welcomed. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt.
Maybe he realises that he could have planted some bad seeds over the past 22 years and would now like to do something about this to avoid being blamed by future generations. I wish that Dr M continues to question the ruling party as long as he is still alive
Pak Lah, meanwhile, should take action to counter Dr M's claims instead of merely denying them on a TV show. Even though Pak Lah has governed for three years, we don't see much improvement. Then there are the stories of his son, son-in-law and their close buddies in the corporate world.
This is not a healthy trend. We must put all the right kind of pressure on Pak Lah so that he has the confidence to make positive changes in Malaysia.
