Farouq Omaro's We're not 49, we're 43, thank you has reminded us that we are 43 and not 49.
I have no issues with what he says but I have a question for Malaysians - are we really one country?
If we are, then why do I need my passport to go to Sabah and Sarawak? Why can't I move to these two states permanently? Why am I restricted from seeking employment in those two states?
If it was a true marriage, Sabah and Sarawak should have grown comfortable with the rest of us Malaysians after 40-odd years of union.
I believe tens of thousands of East Malaysians have come here to work and study with no restrictions whatsoever. As a fellow Malaysian, I welcome their presence.
Isn't it time for a similar gesture from their side?
