  • Following the recent attacks on the prime minister by Dr Mahathir Mohamad, all the BN ministers have come out in the open to show support for Pak Lah. It must be a much-needed morale booster for the embattled PM.

The events certainly demonstrate that Pak Lah needed their support. Otherwise, his position as PM and Umno leader would hang in a balance. Just imagine if people like Najb Razak were to side Dr M. Pak Lah will definitely find himself a very lonely man. He just cannot survive without the support of these ministers, irregardless of how sincere they are.

However, this show of support also means that Pak Lah's fight against corruption and power abuses in the administration is effectively over. Whatever little effort he has made thus far will at best be left at that. Pak Lah just cannot afford to offend his supporters, so to speak. It will now be a case of 'you scratch my back, and I'll scratch yours'.

Well, like the saying goes, when two elephants fight, the mouse gets stomped. The rakyat in this case.
