  • I am currently residing and 'cari makan-ing' overseas (thanks to the NEP). But via all this technology, I am able to keep in touch with all the latest news from my country. I left more than eight years ago and it is sad that this country is deteriorating quickly.

Corruptions is rampant at all levels with no action being taken, violent crimes such as murders and rapes are a daily occurrence, the education system is racist and a joke, the list goes on.

Every year, I return to KL and I am becoming more and more paranoid. Looking left and right before getting out of the car, clutching my bag so tightly while crossing the road, keep looking over my shoulder all the time. All this for having to waste one or two full days at government offices (and waiting since 6.45 am) just to get a simple official document.

Our southern neighbour is way, way ahead of us globally and instead of learning from them we are forever envious. When it comes to good medical care, education, security and shopping, our royalty and ministers are the first to patronise them.

As for our northern neighbour, they are catching up fast and in 10 years they will overtake Malaysia. The writing is already on the wall.

And speaking of neighbours, Malaysia is ever willing to forgive its south-western neighbour year after year for the annual haze. After all, we can't take any action to offend our only good and compatible neighbour. It's okay for the public to suffer. The rich, meanwhile, take the haze occurrence as an excuse to go on vacation.

Those who got elected are supposed to care for the country but they only seem to care about themselves. Wawasan 2020 is just a dream. The reality is come 2020 we are becoming an African state (and I am definitely not referring to South Africa).
