I now have to pay higher highway toll rates because my government has to keep its word for the highway concession agreements, like all fair governments do.

I already have to pay higher fuel prices because my government prefers to use the corresponding incremental profit it gets from Petronas to meet its other chosen obligations to me as a road-user.

Apart from paying exorbitant taxes and duties on my car, I have ended up forking over an extra sum that went to favoured third-parties for APs (approved permits) which my government says are necessary in its effort to build a just country in which I can drive my car in peace.

Now my government wants to financially penalise me for using the highways during those hours when I need to use them the most to get to work on time. My government says that highways are built and toll rates increased to make traffic less congested for me.

It seems to me that every time my government says it wants to do good for me, I end up with the raw end of the deal. It is becoming so hard to be an able and willing subject of my government.

Right now, I am pondering whether to give up my car or to give up my government. If I want to give up the latter, will my government let me choose to? Really, really let me?

Like all fair governments do?
