I refer to the Rentakini report Lina Joy: Crucial test on religious freedom.

If Joy is denied her choice of a religion of her choice, it will be a matter of time before non-Muslims will be ordered to follow a religion of someone else's choice. I don't think even the Middle Eastern countries would have such bias rules.

And just why should Joy leave the country? Malaysian Muslims wanting to take additional wives cross over to bordering countries to do that when unable to fulfill certain local requirements related to religious matters in this country.

Such marriages are recognised and legally registered in this very country when they return. Why not let Joy practise the same principle?
