I'd like to know why there has been a fireworks show every night for the last nine days in Taman Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur.
I know it's Visit Malaysia Year 2007, but excuse me, we have a natural disaster in Johor and tens upon tens of thousands of people are suffering there. One day of fireworks would have been sufficient if we really had to though I would have even postponed the opening night to show solidarity with our Johorean brothers and sisters.
I'm no fireworks expert but I have been told by those who know that these sort of fireworks displays would cost more than a hundred thousand ringgit each night. Wouldn't it have been better if that money had been channeled to helping those in need in Johor?
I'm also guessing that a compassionate act like that would have told the world where our priorities lie and for sure it would have attracted more people to come visit a caring place like Malaysia.
We elected a government to lead this country but good leadership, like rice and other essentials in Johor, seems to be in very short supply these days.
