Being Kluang-born and now living overseas, I have had the chance to watch this lovely town grow over the years.

In the 1950s, it was not unusual to see a sky full of flying foxes gracefully flying, or groups of parrots heading to their feeding grounds.

We, the people, destroyed all that, including the pristine century-old rainforest that graced all the way to Kulai and beyond.

The greed of the timber fraternity is gratefully being repaid to the present generation by these disastrous floods. How many more such floods can we anticipate?

To live in harmony, we must not squander our natural wealth but aim to nurture what nature has given us.

Restore the forests where possible and control and improve planning and development and drainage.

Will this be the last bad flood? Well, nature decides that.
