I was just amazed to read how former ACA Sabah chief Mohd Ramli Abdul Manan was treated. On his transfer back to Kuala Lumpur, he did not even have a table nor work assigned to him! I would like to suggest that this matter be investigated and that due action be taken against the agency's director-general for wasting public money.

That Ramli received RM8,000 a month over a period of six years is just amazing. Even on this count, the DG should be held ultimately responsible because he also refused his transfer and the option of an early retirement. Think of the waste of public money in terms of salary paid in addition to the sheer impact on the morale of the person. I salute Ramli for his openness. His expose says much about the Malaysian civil service and how the higher-ups protect their own interests.

This is feudalism and it stresses again the need for an independent scrutiny on the matters raised. How much faith can we now have with all the linkages at the top from the politicians to civil servants who are corrupt to reveal the truth? Yet, someone should be held accountable, be it at the Public Service Department or at the ACA level.

If accountability is not established then good people would not speak out. The corrupt just get away and the good ones can only remain good for nothing for to do otherwise is to give up their rice bowl.
