I refer to malaysiakini report, Whistleblower; I expect him to deny it . It is not only Mohamad Ramli Abdul Manan who believed so. Most Malaysians who live under Mahathir Mohamad's iron-clad rule for more than two decades share the same sentiments. For your relentless efforts to nab and prosecute a former cabinet minister, you are put in cold storage for six years until retirement time.

Records had shown that corrupt officials and politicians were protected by Mahathir as long as they follow what he said and didn't go against him. During his time, not only was the Anti-Corruption Agency not independent, the judiciary was also under the executive's thumb.

Most of the top guns running the country then had skeletons in their cupboards, which the old premier would use if they dared to disobey his orders. Those top government servants who were clean and did their work diligently were shown to the doors and replaced with 'compliant' ones. Being the shrewd premier that he was, only verbal and not written instructions were given in order to hide his misdeeds.

Time is catching up with Mahathir as one by one, his misdeeds are being washed in public and as he had burn the bridge with the present premier, the current regime would not defend him, and he is left to face the allegations of abuse of power alone. His legacy of developing our country to be a modern and industrial nation seems to be forgotten as people tend to remember him for the abuse of power and endemic corruption during his time.

To the former Sabah ACA chief, decent Malaysian salute your brave decision to go public with your former boss' corruption scandal, which have ruffled more than a few feathers among the top guns in this country and put our present regime at a dilemma on how to contain the hot issue at hand.

Hopefully by your brave disclosures, other brave hearts will be encouraged to blow the whistle on the misdeeds of their bosses, which caused public coffers to be depleted. We can't depend on government enforcement alone to nab the culprits as records had shown that when big wigs are involved in dirty practices to enrich themselves and cronies, the long arm of the law is slow to act.

It is sad to see that after nearly 50 years of independence, corrupt practices and abuse of power is getting from bad to worse, and we need brave souls to go public with the misdeeds of their superiors. One tend to wonder whether the enforcement officers are sleeping on their job or they need their political masters' approval to act against the big fishes who abuse their powers for personal gains.
