My letter is addressed to the Chinese community in Machap.
Dear Chinese community of Malaysia,
With a voting power of nearly 45%, you have an influential say in the country's governance and politics. But I must say that I am disappointed in you. The Machap by-election is around the corner and once again, you will show me and the rest of the country that your vote doesn't really count.
What will it take for you to stand up and show us that you really want a change in this country? Please vote for the DAP. Not because you believe in the ideals of the opposition but because you want to send a strong signal to the ruling government.
It is time that we stood up and denounce the 'comfortable' feeling that the Barisan Nasional government has made us become accustomed to. When there is more opposition in this country,
there is a better fighting chance for the 'small' people to be heard.
I want to be heard. But right now, my voice is being drowned by the laughter of the ruling party. Let's at least reduce their laughter to a smile. We will work on the smile in the next election, or maybe at Ijok!
