As we prepare to celeberate our 50th anniversary of independence, the Altantuya murder trial is not the only show in town. Like the proverbial onion, peel off one layer and another show appears. Name it, the police, the civil service, the politicians and all the rest all have their own side shows.

The mainstream media meanwhile, only publishes the goody-good news. And tells every one that Malaysia is Malaysia Boleh.

Things do not appear right. And this is clearly conveyed by our new website - Taxi-net. Taxi drivers who pick up foreigners wheather in the illegal 'taxi sapu' or the legal KLIA taxis are giving those who want to listen a full run down on all the shows in town. And before they reach their hotels they, the foreigners, have details that may or may not affect their decision on what to do next if they are investors.

We, the citizens, are by and large powerless to act because we have transferred our power to the politicians via the ballot box. But still, all patriotic Malaysians must stand up and be counted. We should not condone the shows that are going on in this town. We must make our voice heard for otherwise our silence will mean consent

I hope that the prime minister, when he returns from his overseas trip, will take the bull by the horns and tackle issue by issue and not address them in general terms. We must act now to stop the rot otherwise ten years from now our dishonesty will come to roost.
