In the same way Dr Mahathir Mohamad has declared Anwar a 'sodomist', Anwar Ibrahim has declared Lina Joy a 'Muslim' who should criminalise herself under the syariah courts, which he believes we should have 'more confidence in'. Let us see if Anwar has the same 'confidence' in the civil court judgment in his case against Mahathir as he did in the Lina Joy case.

How can Anwar expect justice when he has denied Lina Joy her basic fundamental rights? What is good for the goose is good for the gander as they say.

Lina is a brave woman who wants to live a life of integrity and dignity. These are precious, and dare I say, sacred values, which cannot be trifled with because of political considerations.

It is sad that Anwar has squandered the fledgling momentum in Malaysian society to care for issues like human rights, freedom of conscience, human dignity, etc. When 'reformists' like him betrayed these values and displayed by their moral cowardice by denying Lina her fundamental rights, they have undermined 'reformasi' irrevocably.

Anwar should not be surprised if the public response to his lawsuit against Mahathir being struck off is 'padan muka Anwar'.
