A serious allegation was made in the Shah Alam High Court recently during the Altantuya murder trial that entry records for the deceased and her companions were deliberately deleted from immigration computer records.

Recently in a high-profile court case in Singapore, the CEO of their National Kidney Foundation was charged with corruption involving S$20,OOO. A computer expert for the prosecution was able to retrieve data deleted from the foundation's computer system. The records retrieved forensically were pivotal in securing the said CEO's conviction.

I therefore urge Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Nazri Abdul Aziz to direct the Electronic Data Processing Unit of the Jabatan Immigration to retrieve the data relating to the Mongolians' entry into Malaysia which were allegedly deleted from the official records.

I am confident that Malaysia can do better than Singapore in a case like this. After all, it was Nazri who said that Singapore 'is not a country' (Okay, I am willing to concede that he probably learned the definition of 'country' from the official dictionary published by the Dewan Bahasa and Pustaka, a public funds guzzling outfit which has in its stores several thousand more copies of books than it can conceivably sell).

Since the entry records are ultimately related to human rights issues, I expect Nazri to take immediate action on the matter, failing which I propose to write to Louise Arbour, UN human rights commissioner and to the various Bar Councils around the world.
