I refer to the letter Dreaming of a temple.

First, let me explain that I am not a Hindu but I take offence to the writer's insinuation that most Hindu temples are constructed in some corner somewhere because some illogical person built it because of personal and spurious reasons - 'dream' as he puts it.

The logical extension is then it is okay to destroy such 'insignificant temples'. He clearly seems to have an agenda to support the destruction of Hindu temples.

What he failed to acknowledge is that amongst the temples destroyed (which number more than 20 and counting) are some which have a history dating back more than 100 years. They should have been preserved even just as heritage sites; certainly more so when these are houses of worship which extremely meaningful to the faithful.

What he also failed to mention is that during the process in destroying such places of worship, symbols of worship are often wantonly destroyed causing much distress to these marginalised people.

These marginalised communities will then certainly feel that there exists a systemic campaign to reduce the number of Hindu temples in the country.
