  • I refer to the malaysiakini report Maika investors will get money back: CEO.

Let us not forget that weeks before the recent Maika shareholders meeting, a police report was made in order to request the police to provide protection for the shareholders attending the meeting. Sadly, there were only 10 policemen were around and ironically they did nothing constructive to stop the uncivilised behaviour by several during that fateful meeting.

The pertinent question one should ask is why did the police play a docile role at the Maika meeting? Is it because Maika is the investment arm of MIC and as long as the MIC can deliver the votes for the Barisan Nasional, the present government will 'protect' the MIC - including Maika - irrespective of how undemocratically they conduct themselves?

Many months ago, the two famous dogs named Lucky and Flo helped the authorities to detect pirated video discs and the canines were targeted to be killed by the pirate disc manufacturers .

The government (including the police) vowed to give these dogs protection and this was done. Thus, it is presumed dogs are given better treatment and protection by the government than Maika shareholders.

Has the Indian community gone to the dogs in this country? Let us ponder what George Orwell in 1984 said: 'In times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act.''
