I refer to the letter Makkal Osai: Take action against NST too .

As mentioned by Rodrigues, the New Straits Times published a picture of Osama bin Laden depicted as Jesus Christ. It is very obvious that Rodrigues, like many other Christians, is angered by the hypocrisy of the authorities in dealing with this issue but there is no point in doing so. Jesus predicted that many would be against Him in His time and yet still persisted in spreading the message that has touched the many lives who have chosen to accept that message.

I personally believe that there is no need to take offence at such petty things as it is a waste of time and resources. After all, is the icon necessary in the first place? Is it such an integral part of the Christian faith that if I don't have an icon, my spiritual life is slacking? I can choose to live without an icon as it is meant to be an aid, for worship, but not necessarily a must-have for me as a Catholic (I am one.)

On another note, Jesus does not need a defence fuelled with rage and anger. Ironically, what we all ought to be doing, if we are going to defend Him, is to pray against ignorance and the practice of double standards. To defend with anger would regretfully put us on par with religious extremists; making us look insecure and lacking faith. It is commendable that Rodrigues, like everyone else, is standing up for Jesus but there are better and more constructive ways.

I hope that this issue will be put to rest and that the numerous number of employees of Makkal Osai can now come back to work and feed their dependants without anymore worries. Every Christian leader has accepted the apologies. Let us move on.
