I refer to the malaysiakini report RM1.4 bil hole found in navy boat deal.
What is the fuss about, folks? This state of affairs has been going on for many, many years. There has been abuse and misuse of public funds, exorbitant pricing, extravagant spending with no one being held responsible or punished.
The auditor-general will, for the sake of public consumption, make some statements in his annual report. Subsequently, the Public Accounts Committee will wake up and call up a few departments for a chit-chat and everything is swept under the carpet.
Has the PAC ever held any head of department accountable and recommended to the government the dismissal or disciplinary action be taken? If yes, has the government taken action?
In all these cases of abuses and corruption, sensitive positions may be involved. In the absence of positive action, it is my considered view that it is all part of our NEP under which 'sensitive issues' cannot be questioned.
That is the sad state of affairs in our country. Our people, the voting public, should be held responsible for electing the government we have. We have paid, and continue to pay, a heavy price for our stupidity. We have no grounds to complain or protest. I rest my case.
