I refer to the letter Plasma TV in the sky takes the cake .

I don't know whether Vijay was being sarcastic but in my humble opinion, having a plasma TV and DVD player on the Eye on Malaysia's VIP gondola is rather impractical, unless the VIP will be staying a few hours or the night in the gondola.

These things need time to watch and they certainly distract people from the not-so-beautiful sights of Kuala Lumpur. The fridge is practical though so the VIP rider can enjoy a cool drink while on board.

This reminds me of an Internet kiosk operator who suggested putting Internet kiosks at LRT stations. Heck! With the fast-moving traffic, who has time to surf the Internet on the platform before the next train comes? An airport lounge or railway station makes more sense but not an LRT station for goodness sake.

Anyway, proof of the pudding is that company went bust or is no longer in the Internet kiosk business having been overwhelmed by the mushrooming of very much cheaper, more comfortable and more private cybercafes.

In the bid to outdo Singapore in a ruinous game of one-upmanship, I guess any impractical gimmick will do. Perhaps we should install 24-carat solid gold toilet bowls in our trains. That will certainly outdo Singapore. Yawn ... I give up. Let them do whatever they want.
