Lingam tape whistleblower - between the rock and a hard place

I refer to the Malaysiakini report, Is the tape authentic? That's the panel's ONLY job . It is suffice to infer that the original whistleblower who recorded the Lingam tape to testify.

If this is the United States, I daresay that the whistleblower is exculpatory from any kinds of legal reprisals under the existing Whistleblowing Act, which has been effective since its endorsement by US Congress.

But in Malaysia, the whistleblower is now between a rock (of facing legal reprisals of lawsuits and the probability of being charged under the Emergency Ordinance Act for creating a 'false' perception of venality of the judiciary) and a hard case (risking him of imminent pitfalls as the 'protection' if assured by the panels of investigators under the BN government is as good as promising anyone who has information of misdeeds of any leaders of the BN to freely report to the ACA or police without any repercussions or reprisals).

In China, the tacit rules of a person charged of any 'crime' is given a choice - leniency for the one who confess, and severity for the one who resist whether they committed the 'crime' or not.

If the calling of the whistleblower is mandatory, would the government guarantee the safety of that person or would it take this opportunity to send him to jail under the Emergency Ordinance?

Until the government is held under heavy liability that the said whistleblower is exculpatory of all kinds of retribution and to offer him 'immunity', only then you can tell him, "Please stand up!"
