I personally feel that it is a waste of time to investigate the Lingam tape . The prime minister should have a private talk with the judge concerned and ask him if he is indeed the person at the other end of the telephone line. If he says 'yes', he should asked to resign, and if he says 'no', he should be allowed to stay.

In future, when appointments are made for sensitive positions, the person appointed should sign a undated resignation letter to be dated if and when he does not hold himself to the high ideals of the post.

We are trying to become a developed country by 2020. More of similar cases like this will mean that we will only achieve the target in the year 2040.
