I refer to Malaysiakini report Bar: It's about justice, not politics .
I am really ashamed of our representatives of the ruling parties. Each time a scandal is reported, they would rather take the sides of perpetrators, irrespective of the damages done to the country.
The latest episode being the recording of a prominent lawyer apparently fixing appointment of judges.
Those who clamour for the disciplining of the lawyer in the telephone conversation and the judge in question are simply branded as opposition or anti-government. When lawyers demonstrated peacefully, they are branded as sympathisers of opposition or anti-government, or stupid.
And it makes me wonder whether those 2,000 highly-educated lawyers are more stupid than the likes of Shahrir Samad, Nazri Aziz or Bung Mokhtar that they could not differentiate between right or wrong. But I personally believe the reverse is true, judging by statements and remarks which are void of substances made by the said politicians or so-called leaders.
Also our leaders should be reminded that whenever any scandal is exposed, it is their duty to bring those culprits to book so that corruption and abuse of power can be checked. And corruption is draining the resources of the poor rakyat who are finding it more and more difficult to make ends meet due to rising cost, a result partly caused by it. The politicians are elected to take care of the rakyat, not the few corrupted and irresponsible ones.
Pak Lah was given a huge mandate on the understanding that he wanted to reduce corruption. The rakyat are still hoping that he will not fail them. But as it is, with the next election looming on the horizon, he had done almost nothing towards that goal.
