A month has passed since the UPSR examinations. Now let's hear the outcry of us, the parents of Subang Jaya schools. There has been no activities or lessons whatsoever conducted, particularly in SRK Sri Subang and SRK Subang Jaya. All that is been done now is that every morning from 8am to 10am, al-Quran classes are conducted by SRK Sri Subang for Muslim students whilst the others are left doing nothing.

All that is allowed is restricted games. Even chess, Pokemon and uno cards are prohibited. Can you imagine five solid hours of schooling going to utter waste. As a result, our children refuse to attend school. The situation seems like, they, the children have retired from schooling. Mind you, this has been the culture in schools throughout the years. Isn't there a curriculum for this particular phase of schooling? Is anyone monitoring these schools?

Why the big rush for UPSR examinations to be held so early when nine weeks is spent idling. Remember these students are now faced with a transition period from primary to secondary schooling, on top of a changeover of math and science teaching from Bahasa Malaysia to the English Language. Imagine at such a crucial period of schooling, the teachers could at least introduce and familiarise math and science terminologies in English to these students.

Even Kajian Tempatan, Moral, Civic, Kemahiran Hidup as well as co-curriculum activities which were disrupted because of UPSR exams could be resumed and enforced. Instead they now conduct examinations for these subjects without even completing the syllabus. Is all this to accommodate the festival celebrations? What about the "rekod bacaan" and newspapers scheme which has closed down. Even the Pendidikan Seni could be resumed.

It has also come to the notice of the parents of Subang Jaya that the standard 4 science teachers from SRK Subang Jaya are not able to teach science in English. The teachers don't even come for classes. Most of the time they do the disappearing act. As for the other standards, some teachers only complete the syllabus on the eve of final exams. Somehow we the parents are trying to minimise the problem with tuition classes. Imagine how stressful it is for us financially.

Is there any meaning to the longer schooling hours? Why are we talking about world-class education when we don't even stand out among the neighbouring countries in Asia. The authorities concerned should take this as a constructive criticism and do the needful in order for us to progress and compete among Asians as even countries like Vietnam is giving priority to education and a goal has been set by them to overtake us in five years.
