I wish to complain about the quality of ISPs in Malaysia. There are only two - TMnet and Jaring and there's hardly competition among them as TMnet has an advantage in that it monopolises the telephone lineup. Now I hear that Telecom is going to take over Jaring. Won't that create a monopoly?

Yes, I know there are lots of other ISPs like DIGI, Celcom and Maxis, but they charge their users 3 sen a minute while TMnet and Jaring charge us 0.025 sen a minute. The latter rate appears cheaper when compared with the others, but it is still considered very expensive. How do I suppose to read newspapers and magazines from the Internet if they keep charging such enormous fees? Do I glance through just like that? Is this the K-Economy that our Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad is always boasting about?

The quality of transmission is way below standards. Imagine not reaching 56Kbs! What kind of modernised world is this? Are we going through the Information Age or the Stone Age?
