I refer to the letter Request to Indian journalists in India .

Here's another message to these journalists:

It looks like you are invited to visit Malaysia by the Malaysian government. When you come please compare Indians living in Malaysia to Indians living in India. Please ask good questions. Above all, please be sincere, fair and reasonable.

Please do not compare just the Indian Malaysians to the bumiputeras. Non-bumiputeras comprise Indians, Chinese, Eurasians and others. It is true that they do not enjoy certain privileges that the bumiputeras do, but no single ethnic group is being exclusively marginalised with regard to this.

The parliament-sanctioned special privileges for bumiputeras and its abuse is another issue altogether. Please realise that our government, just like yours, is far from being perfect. We have our share of self-serving racist politicians who undermine the government's noble effort to create a unified Bangsa Malaysia.

So before you ask the non-bumiputeras of every race their grievances, please make the effort to study the background and history of our country. You may even learn to appreciate the unique position that our beloved Malaysia is in.

Therefore, when talking to labourers who clean toilets at the prime minister's office or the factory worker who is unable to buy a house, do not just just ask Malaysians of Indian origin. Ask Malaysians of every race who are unable to further their studies abroad because no scholarship is available.

In fact, you should even talk to some of the Malays who, despite official policies in place to assist them, still live in unmentionable condition.

Don't get too mesmerised by the long bridges, tall buildings, clean streets and wonderful reception but do enjoy them. Have a pleasant stay.
