This is an open letter to KS Nallakarupan.

In the Malaysiakini report Nalla to Anwar: ‘What have you done for Indians? you were quoted as follows: ‘I have personal experience and knowledge on how he (Anwar Ibrahim) treats the Indian community. Based on my close association with him for more than 30 years, I know very well that he is lying to the Indian community now just to gain votes’.

You knew this and you stood by him all the 30 years? You are worse than him. What type of a hypocrite are you? You only left him when he didn’t nominate you to stand for the Ijok by-election.

As everyone knows, Anwar was a different person when he was in Umno then under the control of strongman Dr Mahathir Mohamad. He could not go against Umno. Look what happened to him when he tried.

Stop challenging Anwar to reveal what he did for the Indian community when he was deputy premier and finance minister. The Indian community is not interested in your personal vendetta against Anwar. Hindraf has brought us forward, don’t take us backward like what MIC’s S Samy Vellu is doing.

Also, do not use the Indian community as a pawn. You join with the powerful when it benefits you. As far Indian Malaysians are concerned, the only honest Indian representatives are the members of Hindraf. They risked it all for the sake of highlighting the plight of the Indian Malaysian.

Now we have another outspoken person in the form the Malaysian Indian Business Association’s president P Sivakumar. Nalla, if you can’t help the Indian cause, don’t assist Umno by spreading unnecessary news. Just go and play tennis with someone with political clout. You’re good at that.

What we need to do now is to take away BN’s absolute parliamentary power in the next elections. To do this, we cannot dilute opposition votes. All opposition parties have to unite and nominate just one candidate for each constituency. This is what Anwar Ibrahim is trying to do. Malaysia needs a strong opposition to stop the rape of our economic resources by Umno/BN.
