I refer to the Malaysiakini report PM offers olive branch with Thaipusam holiday .

I applaud the quick-fix declaration of a holiday for Thaipusam after it being shoved aside for many decades. Suddenly, we hear sober words from our power-drunk leaders. I guess the Hindraf serum is taking effect.

I urge our dear S Samy Vellu to use this as a platform to ask for an increase in the number of Indian enrollment in public universities and government jobs. While he’s at it, he can also ensure that every Indian is given education and training and those who are high-achievers among them to be government-sponsored to study either locally or abroad.

One more request, if I may, would be to help every Indian family to get access to computers so they all can log on to know the real truth and not be swayed by meaningless ‘feel good’ factors and propaganda through mainstream media channels.

How sad it is to hear that after so much racial marginalisation from the ruling majority and utter negligence from the MIC they now tell us, the people, that they have the formula for progress.

How gullible the Indian populace is to cheer on these ideas as salvation when for many decades the same team of people have been shortchanging and even stealing from them.

I urge the people of Malaysia to wake up and re-instill the true essence of democracy – a government by the people for the people.
