New Zealand holiday: Eusoff, Lingam both psychic

‘How many percent of you is you?’ enquired a baffled Mahadev.

‘I do not want to enter into a mathematical debate!" replied an angry Lingam, entangling in his own identity crisis.

Are we talking about a kind of mutant, as we see in Hollywood horror movies, where half is Lingam, and the other half some unidentified object? This is what is progressing in the hurly-hurly of the royal commission of inquiry into the Lingam tape scandal.

Spooky, isn’t it? To read more is to receive transcendence and awe. It is a sorry tale of ‘what goes around, comes around’. Even spookier is this ‘happened to be there’ and ‘coincidental’ retorts made by both Eusoff Chin and Lingam about their ‘accidental’ holiday in New Zealand.

The two must be very psychic, sharing a kind of metaphysical link. Their sixth sense of knowing where and when to meet (at Changi Airport), where to buy tickets (from the same agent), where to go sight-seeing (the zoo and bird park) is certainly mesmerising. Of course, they are all mere ‘coincidences’.

If Lingam continues to deny that he is the one in the video clip, and that all that boasting of rubbing shoulders with the upper rungs of the judiciary is all about showmanship, ‘bull__’ and ‘bragging’, then he has delivered the final nail into the coffin of his own character credibility.

When pushed to the wall by the questioning, you can almost hear him rant and rave, ‘Fairness demands that I be given the opportunity. Have I made myself clear?’ Alas, all that vocal craftsmanship does not help to efface an insufferable arrogance, which surfaces breathtakingly!

I once read a Buddhist text by some monk who has this to say: ‘Never succumb to the sense of despair and impotence – for this is the recipe for defeat and disaster.’

It must be mightily demeaning for a man who once wielded and perhaps is still wielding such power as a ‘king-maker’ much like those eunuchs behind the imperial Chinese throne. History has proven that every age is characterised by an ‘eunuch’ of sorts, for power-play is never an obsolete game.

Now that the table is turned against him, is this Datuk Arrogance descending into an irreversible downward trajectory?

Where are all his ‘friends’ now, they who were once as thick as thieves? Ah yes, they are all convulsing from paradigm shifts, being thus knocked off by that God-sent, excusable disease called amnesia that has got many a victim scot-free.

Here are some of the lame defenses, or schemes, to cover up for each other.

‘He was drunk. He knew not what he said!’ - Tengku Adnan

‘If he put his hand on my shoulder, how could I brush it aside?’ - Eusoff Chin

‘I have never had any association with him.’ and ‘Laughter is the best medicine.’ so says every doctor. - Dr Mahathir
