I refer to the Malaysiakini report Seven issues affecting the Indians .

I would like to point out some thoughts for the consideration of all Malaysians based on the present leadership of the MIC.

S Samy Vellu and the present MIC as a people 's party have taken 28 years too long and too late realise the so-called ‘seven issues affecting the Indians’. What in the world were Samy Vellu and his MIC doing all this while to represent and address these vital issues?

Hindraf took a far shorter time to realise the need for improvement in the Indian society but why is it that the leaders are in prison for bringing up these issues? Shouldn't they be out and acclaimed while MIC be made accountable and deemed unworthy to represent the Indian society?

If not for these seven issues affecting the Indians, today the Indian society could be at par with other Malaysians in terms of equity and social standing. However, we Indians are lagging far behind.

Bear in mind that for some Malaysians, these ‘seven issues are a non-issue for them. It is not like they will stop and wait for the poor and marginalised Indian Malaysian to address their ‘seven issues’ in order to compete with them.

Samy Vellu has been too long in office to realise that his ‘seven issues’ are just outdated - just like self-made political maestro himself.

None of his ‘seven issues’ address the basic struggle of Hindraf, that is the right of Hindus to practise their religion without been discriminated against. Has Samy Vellu, a Hindu himself, forgotten about the temples?

Indians need more than the seven issues. We need true and reliable representation that is willing to speak up on behalf of the people. An accountable, independent party free from cronyism and nepotism.

One that willing to break rank and stand up for the need of fairness in governance. A representation that willing to be questioned and challenged and one that will admit to its own inefficiencies. One that listens to and improves on society’s quality of living and well-being.

I am not campaigning for Hindraf nor I am discrediting MIC but it’s just that I would like all readers to question whether or not MIC should have been doing Hindraf’s work during the past 28 years.

I am questioning myself now for being a part of the very same fabric of society that had foolishly authorised the MIC with the people’s power for the last 28 years. This time around, I am wiser and I want a change. If we can put up with inefficiencies of the MIC for the past 28 years, why can’t we trust and give in to change for the next five years?
