I refer to the letter Lingam tape: Don't accuse ACA ... yet .
I think it is apparent to everyone that the Anti-Corruption Agency is controlled by their political masters. Many a time, NGOs and opposition politicians have suggested that the ACA be answerable only to Parliament or the King.
They should be given every chance to be independent like the Auditor-General. However, the government will never give such power to the ACA. Why should they? Have you forgotten about the minister who is now the de facto law minister reminding the ACA officers that they (ACA officers) are government servants while we (the government ministers) are the masters, adding that ‘we are not known as political masters for nothing’.
Politicians like to say things like ‘nobody is above the law’. One of those guys who said that was found to be carrying a bag full of money in an Australian airport. Of course, he got away with it. He is even a member of the Umno supreme council.
Any Malaysian who believes that we are all equal under the law is either incredibly na V ve or stupid or both or does not have any relative that was shot in broad daylight by the grandson of an illustrious political family.
Such people would also believe that in the same circumstances, all Malaysians have the equal chance to be granted clemency by the Yang di Pertuan Agong. The abuse of power by our political masters is legendary.
No matter what is revealed about the corrupt practices of some of our leaders (and believe me, they are legendary), the media as well as the ACA have colluded in what can be regarded as cover-ups.
Some people like members of Parliament, judges and law enforcement agencies like the ACA must be held to a higher standard than the rest of us ordinary mortals.
Please don’t think that nobody has noticed that even after the explosive allegations at the Lingam tape royal commission of inquiry, the ACA has yet to respond.
