I refer to the letter Indians should stop their whining . First and foremost, I would like to say that its is rather juvenile of the writer to suggest that using a pseudonym implies fear. Any person writing is well within his rights to use a pseudonym or otherwise. To suggest fear is just rather a very ‘cheap’ shot. Now I have used my name in this letter. What does the writer have to say about me?
Now, do we really need statistics to prove Indians are marginalised ? All the writer has to do is look around him and see how bad things really are. Mind you, I have written before saying how complacent Malaysians have become and this includes Indians. The 'undying' support to a leader who behaves like a Indian movie thug and their ‘crab mentality’ is their downfall.
Ten years ago, I warned my Indian friends that if they did not act, they risked becoming irrelevant. Today, that time has come. Indians prided themselves with working hard, but they never learnt to work smart. They were a very tolerant bunch who endured hardship because it is in their nature to do so.
Yes, I do understand that there are hardcore poor among other races but just look around you - Indians seem to be marginalised more than others simply because they are not required by the government who are pro-Malay and the private sector who are pro-Chinese.
(Just look at the job advertisements which ‘encourage’ bumiputera candidates to apply as well as the ones that require Chinese speakers regardless of the types of jobs.)
Over the years I have seen my Indian friends who are kept in ‘cold storage’ in terms of promotions or retrenched so the organisation may be more Malay/Chinese etc.
It is hard for me to harbour any ill-intent towards any specific race unlike the writer. Why? Because we are all victims of years of bad policies and politics. The day we had a government that failed to look after its people regardless of race or religion - we lost. The result ends up with each race looking after their own.
What I am trying to say is, don't measure everyone by your own yardstick. Over the years the political thug has gone out of his way to marginalise his own people. Now his people are angry. Would you blame them?
Why not blame a government that endorses a specific religion and shoves it down everyone’s throat whether they like it or not? Why not blame a government that is full of politicians that are rotten to the core ?
Don't be part of the problem - be part of the solution. Lets fix this. No more thugs as leaders, no more racist politics, no more complacence.
