I refer to the Malaysiakini article Plight of unregistered doctors .

I am quite perplexed by the plight of unregistered doctors. The way I understand it, we have the list of 'recognised' colleges with Malaysian Medical Council where one can pick and choose based on 'qualifications' and 'amount of money we have' or both. Wouldn't it be naturally wrong to actually go against the written list ie the law of the land and then expect it to be flexed and bent according to ones whims and fancies upon your return?

We can argue about the merit of the list, whether one college is better or worse than the other but the list is there for your own perusal, even before you embark on your journey. Wouldn't it be prudent (before spending lots of money) to check whether the college you are going to is accepted or not? Why would you, after knowing that it would not be 'recognised' still persist in doing so?

The question of Mara and PSD sending students to unregistered college was unfortunate but to my knowledge, they all passed with flying colours upon sitting the required exam back in Malaysia. One student was unfortunate enough to be sent to Japan by PSD but managed to score even higher than most Malaysian students sitting for the same exam in the year she came back.

In fact, she did very well to be accepted as a trainee lecturer with one of the medical faculties locally and is now halfway through her Masters programme. I believe the passing rate has a lot to do with the quality of the candidate themselves too.

In was common knowledge that some 'unrecognised' colleges in the former Soviet Union took in medical students from Malaysia with a third grade in SPM as well as those from the Arts stream. I know of some people with black and white proof of this 'accusation'.

In fact, I know of an ACA report regarding this issue too since further studies abroad need 'authorisation' from the Higher Education Ministry, which was obtained via dubious method.

Finally, why would you, after intentionally going against the established rules and regulation, decide to paint the governing body with a racist undertone?
