When news broke of the Prime Minister's suggestion for the supposedly unfilled bumiputra places in the public universities, the cynic in me knows it was too good to be true. True enough, the sandiwara (charade) has been played out and like the agreement to the Chinese lobby group Suqiu's requests earlier, it is clear now that those of us who have been encouraged by the supposedly positive developments in our society have been taken for a ride.

I supposed it's only fair that bumiputra pressure groups ask for a review of the intake quota to reflect their population ratio now (entrance qualifications aside) but will they likewise ensure that public award for scholarships like the JPA etc also follow a modicum of fairness?

This tit for tat can go on endlessly and the only result will probably be success for the powers that be in continuing with their charade of encouraging national unity while implementing the very policies that ensure the unease between the races continue.

I do not claim to have any solutions but as an ordinary Malaysian whose loyalty is with the country I cannot but point out the hypocrisy I see in our government of the day.
