Second bridge: Think twice over China offer

Must the new breed of ‘baby politicians’ be spoon-fed in parliament, they who do not notice a fly at the tip of their noses, while to an onlooker, it is noticeable? Projects are about value systems, about manipulators and many polluters and about knowing all that glitters is not gold.

Investors are welcome to evaluate the island for what it is worth, but they must in turn be evaluated for what they are worth. In particular, examine the RM4 billion soft loan investment on the ‘Friendship’ Penang second bridge. How kind! Examine the meaning of it. Examine its environmental impact. Is it a friendship with the people of China or with the ‘dragon of world communism’, an old game played by Mao Tse Tung with US presidents?

Here is China’s great stepping stone for its expansionist policy which now hangs as a Damocles sword. If you think it is a done deal, think twice. But mark you, even if Abdullah Ahmad Badawi does not want the bridge now though the Chinese government must have it at any cost. Why? Can China afford to have a free and independent-minded Chinese communities in other parts of the world especially if they are of the same stock as Taiwan?

Look at our neighbor, Singapore. Despite being a protectorate of US, do they dare speak up to their ‘Big Brother’ whether on the UN platform or at international forums? Nay, not a word. Why? The conspirators are there also. Infiltration can come either through inter-government, the media, business or students bodies as witnessed in the support for the Olympic torch run.

Can Penang ever be a free when the knot is tied not only to Barisan in a 50/50 husband/wife ownership but also with Communist China for a most strategic part of the island, the road leading straight to the airport?

As China’s economic might increases with its stockpile of the world’s natural resources, not only will they not be content with Tibet and Taiwan. Suddenly they have become a world power and want to have the world at their feet, including the strategic position of Penang at the entrance to the Malacca Straits.

To allow Red China a 50/50 ownership of a 24-km bridge is the height of madness. What better spot for a covert military base.
