I refer to the letter Mahathir has let me down as my mentor .

I wish to add that it is about time that before he dies, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad should do the decent thing especially as a Muslim to cleanse himself of his mistakes and disservice to the Malays.

If both the American and Australian governments could apologise to their respective native peoples for their acts of genocide and marginalisation, it should not be difficult for Mahathir to do the same.

For instance, the people want to know the truth in regard to the sudden change in his attitude towards his own protégé Anwar Ibrahim.

Was the change from great love and admiration to boundless hatred due to sexual misconduct or more to do with Anwar becoming too ambitious and being hell bent on exposing all the corruption and abuses of power of his administration?

Was it because Anwar was harassing ‘your people’? Also, who came up with this ‘sodomy’ thing? Is it because this is the only thing that can make the Malays turn against Anwar?

Because in Umno politics, having heterosexual extramarital affairs is no big thing because almost everyone is doing it.

It is the Umno Malays who are giving the Malays a bad name because these Umno cronies are the ones who are making good money without putting in an honest day’s job.

The proof for this can be seen during general elections and Umno party elections when these Umno men are making big bucks as brokers and ‘fixers’ for ministers and other Umno candidates who need all the help they can get to get votes.

Mahathir has also betrayed the country and the Malays by undermining and marginalising the Malay language as the national language so much so that our national education policy is in total disarray.

Mahathir believed that Bahasa Malaysia cannot become the language for science and mathematics as well as the language for commerce and the lingua franca of all Malaysians like the Thai language in Thailand, Tagalog in the Philippines and the Bahasa in Indonesia.

As a result, the non-Malays (who vehemently claim to be true Malaysians) are allowed to pursue to their own language and cultural agendas.

One has to be hypocrite to insist that what is happening now will still take us to the Wawasan 2020 where Malaysians of all races can meet, socialise and talk and discuss things freely in the most harmonious of environments.

Oh sure, except that each of us will have to bring along his or her interpreter.
