We refer to the Malaysiakini report MPs query 'extreme profits' for IPPs.
The accompanying table to the article has misstated the pre-tax profit (PBT) of our wholly-owned subsidiary, TNB Janamanjung Sdn Bhd as RM860.498. million. We seek your co-operation to correct this misinformation.
While we noted that the table did not refer the year to which the PBT was registered, our own record showed that Janamanjung’s PBT has never reached the RM800 million mark.
The highest registered in the past three years was RM454.7 million for our 2007 financial year while for the 2006 and 2008 financial years, the subsidiary’s PBT stood at RM416.8 million and RM416.4 million respectively. For our 2005 financial year, Janamanjung posted a pre-tax loss of RM21.6 million.
We hope you can immediately update the table and display the revised version in the article to better reflect the PBT figure as in our records.
Editor’s note: The date in the table was provided by Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department SK Devamany in Parliament. We have since published a clarification from the Association of Independent Power Producers Malaysia (Penjanabebas).
