I refer to Malaysiakini report MCA under Ong another Gestapo.
At least the MCA leadership has undergone changes at the top to make way for freshness in ideas and to try to adapt to changing times. However, the MIC prefers to remain left out and not be part of the various political changes taking place in the country.
Their lethargic and off-track way of thinking is the very reason why MIC remains 'isolated' and looked upon as a party without any character or dignity.
Its leadership under S Samy Vellu continues to defy all moves to bring progress to the party and this is seen as the main cause of the marginalisation of the Indians in general and Tamils in particular. The government or Umno is not the main culprit.
The mass media could do a big favour to the Indian community by not sensationalising any statement or report by MIC that has no substance or value. In most situations, MIC just blows a lot of hot air.
At least Gerakan has made changes and offered its good advice to MIC but instead of being taken in good faith and from a good friend in the coalition, it was looked upon with scorn and as an intrusion.
The tone of the reply from MIC was seen as if as challenging Gerakan to a fight. It is typical and a hallmark of MIC's behaviour. It clearly goes to show how protective these MIC people are of their dictatorial rule - they shoot out venom with a vengeance.
If the MIC grassroots, who really hold the future of the party in their hands, cannot see these greedy and power-crazy leaders, then they all deserve what they get. If you really care, then oppose the present leadership and bring about the much-needed changes to at least give you a ray of hope for the party’s survival in the future.
Otherwise, leave the party and join PKR where the chances of progress and growth for the Indian community look far brighter than with the MIC who are seen to have a very dubious past and are unwilling to make amends.
It may take a while but it can surely happen with PKR. More than 50 years with the MIC has further worsened the conditions of Indians so let’s give PKR a chance but do not expect too many things too soon.
It is a ‘now or never situation’ for MIC members and they have to take a serious stand as to what future they want for their children and beyond. Do they want to continue to support a long, overstaying regime that rules with an iron fist continues to hoodwink the poor and helpless Tamils?
Samy Vellu can be likened to the Fuhrer of Nazi Germany. ‘My way or no way’ is his motto. It is time this person was booted out for the sake of the community. Do not go for cosmetic changes but an overall change to start with a clean slate.
This is the Indian Malaysians only hope if they want to keep their political presence.
