On Agong to swear in Najib on Friday

Braveheart: Today could either be the darkest day in Malaysian history since May 13 or the brightest breath of hope since independence.

The power is in the hands of the Yang Di Pertuan Agong.

To the King, we the people of Malaysia grovel at your feet for mercy, justice and wisdom to not accept Najib as PM.

To God, forgive us for our sins and please, please bestow courage onto our beloved King. And to the people of Malaysia - ‘Brace for impact'.

Timmy: Don't lose hope, believe in blessings in disguise.

This may look awful or us today but three months down the road, this may be the best thing that has ever happened to us.

For some, they will wished that the day had not come at all.

God works in a mysterious way, so just believe that it will always be for the better good. We may not understand now, but surely one day you will see the great wisdom of God.

Cheer up, leave it to God, for we have done our part in conveying our message. We should be at peace at ourselves.

Don't judge a situation too early, it is never accurate. Remember how we judged Pak Lah too early?

Take heart that the winner never wins all, losers never lose all and there's a lesson to gain for everyone. My heartiest congratulation to the winner!

And to the losers, read this piece for encouragement!

On 81 MPs ask king to put off Najib's appointment

Wahab: Given the close links between Umno and the Malay rulers and with Najib enjoying tremendous support from both Umno and BN, it is just impossible to stop him from becoming the next premier.

Pakatan Rakyat should instead get ready for Najib's ‘iron fist' administration.

The suspension of Harakah and Keadilan , the falling of the Perak state government and the charging of Karpal Singh have signaled the return of an authoritarian government.

It's naive to think that the people will continue to enjoy greater freedom of speech and to be able to continue exercising their democratic rights when Najib takes over the reins of power.

Pakatan Rakyat must accelerate their reform plans. There must be also a crisis management plan to respond to the impending oppression.

On Najib hails contribution of M'sian Chinese

Om Prakash: Now that he is to be the new PM, suddenly he starts praising the Chinese for their contribution to nation-building.

How about the other races? If the racial card is to be played, this is the result. We will continue to praise some at the expense of others.

On Exit Pak Lah, Dr M returns to campaign trail

PC Tan: Dr M must be kidding himself to think that his return to the campaign trail will make a difference.

He does not exert anymore influence on the rakyat , only on Umno which only panders to his eccentric behaviour out of respect for an elder.

He had tried once to leave Umno, hoping a large number would follow, but that wasn't so. He should have learnt his lesson then.

But no, this stubborn old man insists that he still has the power to influence. So like Ezam, he is going to cause the BN candidates in the tri-elections to lose by a bigger margin.

And when that happens, the pride and ego of this old man would be so shaken that he might not be the same again.

As an 83-year-old man, why can't he just ride off into the sunset and avoid any such embarrassment?

Anne Mathews: I personally feel this old man is up to something fishy. During his tenure, he closed the eyes of the public for his own profit and now he is trying to be very naive, saying Pak Lah is wrong in whatever he did.

He accuses that man from all angles and without feelings as a human, just because Pak Lah was not a ‘yes man' for him.

The people have no confidence in him any more, except for his cronies for some vested purposes.

RJT Dhaliwal: PKR, now is your chance to bring out the truth about the way Umno twists and turns, making fools of the rakyat in order to gain votes for themselves and their cronies.

As Nizar's defiance and Karpal's intentions to take the Perak sultan to court is being hyped by the ruling BN as a reason for the rakyat not to vote for Pakatan, I guess it is time for PKR to make public the way Mahathir himself attacked the royalty.

Tell the rakyat who is responsible for the setting up of the special court to try royalty. If the PKR leaders do not bring this up, no one will know of the double-tongued techniques adopted by Umno.

On Najib's appreciation of the Chinese, remember Najib, that I have not forgotten your own keris episode and whose blood should be on it. It's political hara kiri time for Najib.

Braveheart: I think Dr M is not going to have a horrible ending to his legacy. The politics of the current time is very much different from his time.

He had the good fortune of leaving politics at the infancy of broadband and the Internet on the whole. His information control policy is not going to help in the age of cyberspace, MMS and handphones with cameras.

And if Mahathir thinks he has embraced cyberspace, well, his Che Det website is not going to crank out anything significant either.

Where is all this going to lead? Cyberspace is going to revisit Dr M's past.

From May 13 and Perwaja Steel to the Bakun Dam, Tun Salleh Abas and Anwar's kangaroo court trial etc.

Somehow this is good for the rakyat . The truth must be known.

On BN's sexy girls fish for votes

Go-Go Guy: Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's statement about the go-go girls representing Chinese culture had me in stitches. I'm sure his political opponents will go to town with this.

It might be more correct to say that go-go girls with all their sexy costumes and gyrations belong more to the modern pop culture stretching across all ethnic groups in Malaysia, eg, dangdut for the Malays and all that new Bollywood stuff for the Indians.

The costumes are similar, the gyrations are similar, even the songs are similar, only the languages used are different. It should all be harmless fun.

In our country though, people try to compartmentalise culture and ban all kinds of things instead of intellectually engaging themselves with them or the audience.

That is why Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's presence at that event with those sexy girls would present his political opponents with ammunition.

It is time the authorities start thinking hard about their actions like the ban on yoga, pengkid , etc.

GH Kok: I read with great interest this report. Now, I'm wondering what the womenfolk of Kampung Baru Sepetang think of this performance.

I recall several years ago in Klang when the China girls were creating a lot of havoc targeting the local Chinese men and their money.

This caused a furore among the womenfolk and they even petitioned the politicians to get rid of these girls.

So now, I call upon Pakatan to seize the opportunity to woo the womenfolk of Kampung Baru Sepetang and Bukit Gantang as a whole.

Get them out to vote against this sleaze and this insult to the Chinese culture.

Pained Citizen: ‘Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, minister in the Prime Minister's Department in charge of Islamic affairs was there to enjoy the performances and he said that they were a ‘part of the Chinese culture.'

Yeah, just like the strip dances in karaokes are part of Malay culture, eh? A racial slur by an ogling guy who happens to be in charge of the religious affairs department of the government run by the ruling party.

On Ganesan: I'm the Obama of M'sia

Yuvan : Since the election of Barrack Obama as the first African American to the US presidency, a lot of people around the world with high aspirations in politics want to emulate him.

It is, therefore, nothing new that S Ganesan, the MIC/BN candidate for the Bukit Selambau seat also wants to be like Obama.

But one must remember that coming from a poor family, going through difficult times and having achieved some success in life does not make one equal to Obama.

If that is the case, we can be rest assured that we would had have lots and lots of Obamas in Malaysia and all over the world!

Barack Obama fought his way through a ‘repressed' system in the American political landscape and changed the mindset of millions of Americans who have been basking in the false glory ‘white supremacy' for more than two centuries.

He rose to the US presidency based on his strong foundation of a clear vision, constructive thinking, meticulous planning and his perfect organisational and execution capabilities.

He mesmerised his followers and fans with his oratory and maintained an exuberant ability throughout his campaign to convince the American people to move away from the ‘norm'.

His path to the White House was rocky, slippery, steep and dangerous. But Barack Obama had the sheer determination and guts to overcome all the hurdles and obstacles and achieved his ‘dream' of capturing the most powerful political position in the world.

And so if Ganesan thinks that he is ‘the Obama of Malaysia', he surely can ‘dream' on about it.

He has a long and arduous journey ahead of him to first of all convince himself and his constituents that all Malaysians are equal. That would be his first step.

On Opposition banned from raising Altantuya

John Johnson: ‘The ceramah ended at 11.50pm, well after the 11pm deadline set by the police.

Zambry, when asked to comment, said, ‘I don't know if the police have set such restrictions. They should inform us about it if there is such a thing'.

What can you expect from this guy? He doesn't even know that the deadline is 11pm. I myself am more well-informed than him.

He says they should inform him of such a ruling. Let me tell him something. The phrase ‘I don't know' or ‘I am not aware' are not the type of answers we are looking for.

He should be aware of all the latest information. When it suits you, you play dumb and flout the regulations then proclaim that BN is very fair.

Practice what you preach and obey the guidelines. That applies to all parties.
