'With Khir Toyo, BN has no chance'

your say ‘The Selangor government might like to thank him in return for his glaring inability to raise any solid and meaningful criticism of the present administration.'

On Wong to remain as exco, state rep

Ron Khoo: Mohd Khir Toyo has said that BN will now exploit the issue of the return of Elizabeth Wong.

If this is the best the current Selangor opposition leader has to offer then I'm afraid BN has no chance of ever winning back the hearts and minds of a sophisticated urban electorate.

The Selangor government might like to thank him in return for his glaring inability to raise any solid and meaningful criticism of the present administration.

Puterabatu: I say go for it Khir, go and dig your own grave. Your extravagance, pompousness and arrogance will confirm your date with political oblivion come the next general elections.

Not only do you seem to enjoy immunity from prosecution by the MACC or the AG (that includes your wife) you also defended your excursions to all the various Disneylands paid by PNSB.

The more you use Eli's issue, the more alienated will you and your racist organisation that is Umno be from the rakyat.

You fail to understand the protection Islam accords to the individual - regardless of race - and you unashamedly announce to the world that not only are you insensitive to the suffering of Eli but you are willing to use her suffering as political mileage.

Conveniently enough to divert attention from your Disneyland 'technical' travels.

Ken Tan: Dear Eli, allow me to congratulate you on the very bold decision to plough on in the political field.

This because the people's interest is at stake and you being a responsible, legally elected representative which the people want.

People of integrity are hard to come by especially in politics. They do not last as their adversaries are lurking like lions ever ready to devour them.

So hold fast to your ideals for a fair Malaysia where all are treated with respect as human beings which God has allowed us to be born in by His grace, you and I being among them.

Let us labour to make Malaysia a better land that could be a beacon to multi-racial and multi religious nations.

Help to bring us out of the political mess which we are in that makes us the laughing stock of the world.

You are not alone in this endeavour. All who love Malaysia are with you to wish you God's protection as you carry out your duties as an elected representative of the people.

Those who choose to exploit you will do well to know the horrible price they have to pay come the next round of elections . So stand up to them and show your mettle.

Lim Soon Hock: Just a two-line comment:

1. To Elizabeth Wong and the Selangor government's decision: ‘Kudos!'

2. To Khir Toyo for his statement ‘We will exploit this issue': ‘Sick!'

Lee Wei Seong: I was holding my breath when reading this piece of news. It is with great relief that she has the courage to continue the struggle for the people, more so for women in general. My salutations.

Yum: This Khir Toyo just doesn't know when to stop yapping, does he?

Koh LP: I think Dr Khir has exploited the people of Selangor long enough.

He must answer how he spent a few hundred thousand ringgit to visit to Paris Disneyland. I consider him morally bankrupt if he cannot answer to people of Selangor.

If Khir is morally bankrupt, what moral ground has he to exploit another victim, again?

Haslinah Yacob: The Joint Action Group for Gender Equality (JAG) welcomes the decision of the Selangor state government to retain Elizabeth Wong as state executive councilor as well as state assembly person for Bukit Lanjan.

Wong has proven worthy to hold public office, as evidenced by the overwhelming support from colleagues and her constituents.

This decision to reject her resignation, is a validation of her capabilities as a politician, as well as a rejection of increasingly sexualised politicking that render young, women politicians such as Wong more vulnerable to attacks on the basis of so-called ‘morality'.

JAG hopes that such a stand by the state government will go a long way towards the recognition of women politicians of good calibre, and similarly encourage more women to participate in the political arena.

JAG also is pleased that Wong has decided to retain her positions and posts and we commend her for her perseverance and commitment in continuing to serve the people of Selangor.

Doraisamy:

At last, Elizabeth Wong has made a decision. Great!

Concentrate on your work and I hope the Pakatan government will back her decision to stay on.

We hate the comment given by Khir toyo. What do you mean by exploit the issue?

Come on, if you can't serve the public cleanly, then leave the political field. Do some charity work.

Nicholas:

It is good to know that she has decided to stay on. Good also for the state as there will be no by-election. I think we are tired of such activities.

I do hope that she has learned something out of this. Most important, she must continue to be a role model for the other politicians to follow.
