Umno devoid of spiritual values, says Nik Aziz
PAS spiritual advisor and Kelantan MB Nik Aziz Nik Mat's message to the voters in Manek Urai is: Take BN and Umno's sweeteners, but vote PAS.
PAS spiritual advisor and Kelantan MB Nik Aziz Nik Mat's message to the voters in Manek Urai is: Take BN and Umno's sweeteners, but vote PAS.
The Kelantan MB's statement is a clear indication of money politics being used BN to entice voters to back its candidate in the by-election.
Nik Aziz (left) said while PAS was founded on Islamic principles, Umno was founded on nationalism, which explained why it has not been successful in its policies.
Its leaders, said Nik Aziz, are devoid of spiritual values and are corrupt.
"They have amassed great wealth and can afford to fish for votes by offering gifts and money. We in PAS have tried to provide a balance of physical and spiritual development for Kelantan.
"However, in this by-election you will be approached by Umno and BN workers who will offer you gifts and cash."
"Kalau beri pitih ambi, kalau beri gula kacau, kalau beri kain pakai, tapi hak mengundi nanti pangkah bulan." (If they give you money take it, if you are given sugar stir it, if they give you clothes wear it. However, come election day vote for PAS)
Nik Aziz: Umno is deviant
Nik Aziz said this last night at a ceramah attended by a crowd of 2,000 people at Kampung Chuchuh Puteri A, which is within the Manek Urai constituency.
Also present was PKR de-facto leader Anwar Ibrahim and Kelantan senior exco member, Husam Musa (right) .
Husam said Umno's money politics had not escaped the attention several watchdog bodies.
He said Malaysians for Free and Fair Elections has called on the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission to look into Umno's unfair tactics to attract votes.
A thunderstorm and heavy drizzle earlier did not dampen people's enthusiasm. Some had travelled more than 14kms from the main road of Gua Musang and Kuala Krai, passing through narrow roads to the football field where the ceramah was held.
Nik Aziz said: "Umno branded Ayah Pin and Al Arqam as deviants. It is Umno which has clearly deviated in its
akidah
(belief) by not following Islam's guiding principles".
"If Umno supports Islam, then do away with the nationalist approach. We would support. However, how are we to support Umno if it continues to be deviant," he asked.
"I have sent an invitation to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to debate the issue but have yet to receive a reply," the PAS spiritual leader said.
Anwar warns of the media twists
Opposition leader Anwar ( below) who was present at the ceramah on the eve of his sodomy case, warned voters of the twists and turns by the mainstream media and television.
Citing US president Barack Obama's call to Najib as an example, Anwar said the mainstream media reported the PM was praised and given assurances on foreign direct investments.
Saying that he had a copy of Obama's message, Anwar said the mainstream media painted an inaccurate picture.
"Obama wanted to know why a Malaysian bank was supporting a North Korean arms shipment to Myanmar," he said.
"Similarly, when former Selangor menteri besar Dr Khir Toyo's multi million mansion has been highlighted, some media have compared it to Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng's rented house.
"Do not be fooled by such comparison....as it pales to what the Umno ministers own. Please be aware of the issues and not be easily duped by the mainstream media," he urged the voters..
