your say The latest revelation of a former MB owning a palatial home did very little to stir MACC's enthusiasm. Do questions like how he, a mere wage earner, can own such an expensive mansion really matter to them?

On Exco’s aide falls to death from MACC HQ

Peter Ooi: I am saddened by the tragic death of Teoh Beng Hock and, my most heartfelt condolence goes to his loved ones. It must be a trying time for them. But I want to ‘congratulate the ‘MACC for their thorough investigation of those opposition excos.

I do not condone corruption. Corrupted officers, be they from BN or Pakatan Rakyat, must be weeded out and no effort must be spared in the effort.

The only question troubling my poor mind is that apparently MACC is very enthusiastic in investigating cases involving the opposition. My perception of the body is that when it involves the ruling parties, probes fizzle out.

The latest revelation of a former MB owning a palatial home did very little to stir their enthusiasm. Do questions like how he, a mere wage earner, can own such an expensive mansion - one fit for a king - really matter to them? And as many have asked, did the Inland Revenue Board investigate his income?

Did they investigate politicians found guilty of money politics by their own party ? Or maybe the MACC lacked capable officers to do the job.

Has it started seriously investing the PKFZ scandal? Hey, this involves billion of our money and we expect big guys are involved and let us hope ikan bilis are not made the sacrificial lambs here.

I like to remind the MACC, it is funded by all of us, taxpayers. Hence it has to act impartially. Whether the accused is from BN or Pakatan, all deserve the same degree of attention.

Maybe I am wrong. If so, kindly furnish us with details of the prosecution successes of so many high-profile cases where even a donkey can sense wrongdoing.

Arvind Ram Kumar: The news of Teoh Beng Hock’ death yesterday saddened me even though I do not know him personally. I went totally speechless after hearing the tragic news, and understand why our fellow Malaysians were expressing their anger at this issue.

I do not know what else to write, but would like to contribute a poem which I wrote myself last night. My condolences to Teoh Beng Hock’s family and friends, may he rest in peace.

Tree of Life

Wind blew gracefully into the forest of the unknown,

Where every man goes and never returns,

An ancient tree standing tall above all,

Sheltered two beings never seen by mankind,

They work day and night beneath the sacred tree,

Making sure the equilibrium continues,

As good and evil will always be equal……

The two beings never faced each other,

But their action will always remain a mystery,

As time was never present before them,

One creates a tapestry of life from the ancient tree,

Another shatters it on the stone of history,

One faceless being with a pleasant nature,

Another cursed with a horrifying manifestation….

Life and death are part of us,

One who is born will pass away someday,

As body may perish but never a soul,

The tree of life will be the final destination,

And the cycle continues as He looks over,

When someone celebrates the birth of a new life,

Another will grieve for the lost of loved ones……

Helen Yeap: One wonders why the MACC seem to be dragging their feet on investigating country-wide financial scandals brought about by BN politicians but are so super efficient at investigating non-Malay Pakatan assemblymen.

The extremely suspicious circumstances of Teoh Beng Hock death raises even more questions about the integrity of this bunch of “civil servants”. I also wonder if the IRB have even begun to

investigate that idiotic Javanese pirate Khir Toyo’s tax records yet?

Nantha Kumaran: I am so, so sad that this had to happen to the young man. My questions:

Is it right for authorities to question an innocent person from the evening till the morning? Why is Khir Toyo still out there without any action taken? Is this is how Najib creates 1Malaysia?

No excuse and explanation will be able to undo what they had done!

Dear DAP leaders, please take care of your employees don’t ever leave them alone with the killers. Same goes to you as well.

CH Siew: It is getting clearer over time that the MACC has not only failed in doing their job, they’ve became a machinery of Umno to terrorise the opposition. With the death of Teoh the MACC really comes under question.

MACC itself lacks transparency, imagine there is no CCTV, so there can be no evidence revealing how Teoh was interviewed by the MACC, what they did they do to him during the nine tormented hours? Was there legal counsel available to Teoh in that period?

How could such a practice be tolerated?

It is very clear that there is a huge problem in the way the MACC operates. They still have the cheek to push for the investigation to be speeded up? They should be the ones who should be suspended pending an independent investigation!

A Beggar:

As a concerned law-abiding citizen, like so many others, I am begging MACC to please at least ask this self-declared multi-millionaire a few questions to justify his income and his palace.

We can forgive you for not having investigated those past BN reps who used up RM500,000 within two months, but at least show a bit of interest in investigating Khir Toyo where even Mahathir questioned his source of income. Please Mr MACC, we beg you.
