Police, MACC - two key pillars of BN gov't

'The MACC and police are two important pillars of the BN government - if one collapse, the entire BN government will fall.'

DK: Do you think that the police will find the culprit (or culprits) and charge them? No way! Should the police proceed, the MACC can retaliate with all the bribery cases involving the cops. Even if they caught the culprit, will the government be sincere enough in charging them? The MACC and police are two important pillars of the BN government - if one collapse, the entire BN government will fall.

CH Siew: "If he refuses to do so, we will evoke Section 111 of the Criminal Procedure Code to compel him to give a statement. We can also charge him for giving false statement if he refuses to come foward," said Selangor police chief Khalid Abu Bakar in relation to Kajang municipal councillor Tan Boon Hwa.

Is the police interviewing Tan as a witness or are they already making Tan the major suspect? If Tan walk into the police station for questioning, will he also end up like Teoh?

Bear in mind that now with the revelation that Teoh's phone was in MACC’s custody, there are even more questions to be asked. Why was Teoh's mobile not with him but in the hands of MACC? If Teoh was released after questioning, how is it that the mobile was not given back to him? Could MACC not have the intention to treat Teoh as a witness but was trying to make him a suspect right from the start?

If even a layman like me can find much suspicion with the case, surely the police can do better. Yet the police seems "professional" enough to go after the opposition. It seems that if you are from opposition, you are equal to a criminal in the eyes of the police.

Jeffrey: When I read police chief Musa Hassan comments that the police had almost solved this case with 60 percent of the investigation done, I can say that this is just a show or a delaying tactic.

Experts in the bombing case in Jakarta could even identify the pattern of the crime and zoom in on the JI immediately. It's a joke for the Malaysian police when it comes to arresting people who used to work for them.

Dennis Madden: "We will leave no stone unturned. We will do a comprehensive investigation," said Selangor police chief Khalid Abu Bakar .

What sort of investigators are dealing with this case if they had to revisit the site to find parts of a window? I think the unturned stones are between their ears.

CK: After all that I have heard and seen, I believe Teoh was a victim of the MACC. He was unable to take the pressure from MACC and as a result, he was ‘bullied’ to death. I think it would be safer to be accompanied by a lawyer in this kind of situation. The MACC has lost its credibility 100 percent because of this case!

P Dev Anand Pillai: It is most unfortunate that a young man had to die but the real enemy that the Pakatan Rakyat state governments will have to watch out for are the civil servants. Some civil servants are bent on teaming up with the opponents of the Pakatan governments to sabotage them from within.

The cleansing of the civil service must be from the inside - people of integrity, capability and caliber should be appointed as oppose to race and religion. Only by doing this will we be able to save our institutions from becoming apparatus of the state to suppress dissent. We, the people, must not allow Malaysia to become another Zimbabwe.

Chung Hon Cheong: I can understand how stressful it was for Teoh Beng Hock to be questioned for hours. I can understand how painful it was for his parents to see their son dead. I can’t comprehend how his pregnant fiancée Soh Sher Wei is going through, losing her husband and a father to her child.

I don’t want to jump to conclusion but I am appealing to the authorities to answer why it happened. We should never ask with fear, and should never fear to ask.

Lucian: Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, why has MACC only moved against PKR and yet ignore the insurmountable evidences against members of Barisan Nasional? Who is really politicising the issue?

Elloh : As loyal citizens, we must protest strongly about this suspicious death while in MACC's custody. We must not only protest strongly, but continously until the authorities change their attitude.

I suggest that all fellow citizens wear black or black armbands everyday to show our displeasure and that we are not happy with the situation that is now existing in our country.

LBL: What goes round comes around. Only time will tell. I am sure the MACC officers responsible for Teoh's death will have to pay in the end. The law of nature will take care of them. As for Khir Toyo, we can see he is already paying for his sins.

CPKee: In Tan Boon Wah's questioning, the racist remark "Cina bodoh" was used to humiliate him. If Cina is bodoh, why the need for the NEP?
