Lawyers for former deputy premier Anwar Ibrahim and the government have tentatively agreed to seek a settlement in a civil suit brought against former inspector-general of police Abdul Rahim Noor for assaulting Anwar in 1999.

Anwars lawyer Karpal Singh told Kuala Lumpur High Court judge Abdul Hamid Said that both Anwar and the government are trying to effect for a settlement.
