Ong vs Tiong - full-scale inquiry needed

your say ‘It is the responsibility of the PM to call for a full-scale inquiry. He should order both men to step aside, pending the outcome of such an investigation.’

On EXPOSED: 'RM10 mil for MCA boss'

Lee Mun-Kit:

This definitely calls for the MACC to initiate a full-scale investigation into the actions of both Transport Minister Ong Tee Keat and Bintulu MP Tiong King Sing. If the MACC does not take prompt action, the AG should demand the police to initiate a full-scale investigation. And both gentlemen, if they are honourable, would have to step aside pending this investigation. This is serious as the two parties had accused one another of wrongdoing.

It is the responsibility of the prime minister to call for a full-scale inquiry. Otherwise the PM himself is implicated as condoning in any wrongdoing by either member of his government when it is finally established. He should order both men to step aside immediately, pending the outcome of such an investigation. The question begging to be answered is - has corruption become so rampant that RM10 million is of no consequence anymore?

Truth: For the sake of BN, both OTK (Ong Tee Keat) and TKS (Tiong King Sing) should resign from their respective posts. PM is trying to instil confidence and win back the hearts of the rakyat but these two YBs certainly not helping and making it worse by the day. Like what the PM said the other day - BN lost not because opposition is strong but because BN is weak due to internal squabbles, fights, sabotage, etc.

I agree that MACC should investigate Tiong's allegation. If true, where did the money go? MCA disciplinary committee should also haul up its president on both allegations, ie, the receipt of RM10 million and the use of private jet. It’s a potential conflict of interest on the minister's part. OTK should subject himself to the same rules and standards which he imposes on others.

Alexander Yuan: Here we go again... I don't see them do anything on the RM10 million donation to OTK. Or that RM24 million mansion by a certain former MB of Selangor? MACC a model of ICAC? More like the ACA of Zimbabwe to me.

Vincent Ong: MACC, please act, don't wait. What are you waiting for? Are you waiting for instruction(s)? From whom? I always thought you are independent as you all have studied how ICAC of Hong Kong functions. You will be a laughing stock to the Malaysian public.

Chee Hoe Siew: MACC to probe PKFZ? Where can MACC find time to do such trivial thing? The amount is only a matter of RM10 million, which is such a small sum compare to those from the Selangor state government, which is at a huge sum of RM2,000 or so.

Kevin: It is sickening how the MACC acts with lightning speed on the faintest suspicion of any opposition politician but is deaf and dumb to scandalous public revelation of BN politicians. The allegations against Selangor exco Ronnie Liu are based on an anonymous poison-pen website which has been thoroughly debunked. So what is the rationale for arresting (Liu’s aide) Wong (Chuan How)? Don't they have any bigger fish to go after like the RM10 million and free jet rides of OTK?

Timothy Teoh: I find it unbelievable for Tiong to donate RM10 million in cash over three instalments. How many briefcases needed for such amount? Can Tiong prove with receipt the amount that he has withdrawn?

Fomca: For their safety (Ong and Tiong), I propose that they be detained under ISA. (It was done last time for Teresa Kok). I believe that this is only the tip of the iceberg. The whole cabinet should be audited. What is the total cost incurred (for ministers) just to attend to emergencies in our country?

What was the urgent matter for OTK to fly? He says that he has yet to receive the bills. Even if he receives the bills, who is going to pay for these ‘urgent matters’? The government? I hope that there is no suicide this time.

Wira: Where is the integrity expected of a minister? Why would he hitch a ride on a plane owned by a company which had a overriding interest in a scandal ridden PKFZ?

Ahmingchai: Is this a political bribe or what? Is MCA so broke that they need to get donations from a Sarawak component party? If Tiong is so rich, why don’t he donate to the poor in Sarawak rather than to help those in Peninsular Malaysia?

Anak Malaysia Tercinta:

If TKS (Tiong King Sing) had given RM10 million as a donation to assist MCA - whose head is heading the PKFZ project, in which TKS’s company is involved - do you call that a donation or a bribe or palm greasing? Ask a school kid ... he will tell you it’s a bribe. Giving a bribe is an offence, so is receiving it. Where are you, MACC? Sorry, we are busy with PKR councillors and their assets.

Durianwool: Hmm ... how many qualified 'emergencies' does one have in two months? It will be very interesting for Mr Ong to reveal what they are and whether they can be qualified as such, since he knows very well that ministers are only allowed to use MH (MAS) and AK (AirAsia)... and others only in 'emergencies'.

In any case, a simple look at AK or MH's flight schedules will reveal that there are enough flights. If the MCA boss does not realise that the private jet flights can easily be construed as inappropriate, then one wonders if he really should be the representative that the rakyat should place their trust on.

Dr Jacob George: Once again, ‘political expediency’ takes centre stage than the need for accountability, good governance, transparency and having zero tolerance for corruption. Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin seems to be more ‘preoccupied and concerned’ over the public spat between Transport Minister Ong Tee Keat and Bintulu MP Tiong King Sing over the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) financial fiasco rather than the issue of corruption and the betrayal of the peoples’ trust!

So DPM - since you asked the question - what is the image of the BN today? There is no necessity for a rocket scientist from Harvard or Oxford to answer, thanks to the manner those elected have continued to betray their mandate repeatedly.
