Kampung Tunku assemblyperson Lau Weng San today lodged a police report against former Selangor Barisan Nasional state representatives for allegedly misusing state funds amounting to RM27 million.

adun rep meet mbpj 270308 lau weng san In a statement issued today, Lau said although he lodged a report against the BN reps on July 16 with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, the MACC has "yet to take any action."

According to him, each of the BN representative had allegedly spent up to RM500,000 in their respective constituencies within only three months before the 12th general election in March 2008.

Based on the documents he obtained from district land office, there are "serious questions as to how the state reps could have spent the people’s money irresponsibly."

"There is a serious suspicion whether BN state representatives had used the money to bear the cost of BN’s campaign in light of the general election last year," he said.

Elaborating, Lau claimed each BN representative had spent 90.6 percent of the allocation provided to their respective constituencies within the first two months of 2008.

"The total of the allocation was RM26,634,844.33 and the remaining balance is RM2,907,155.76," he said.

RM492,000 spent within two months

The DAP Youth leader claimed that most of the BN representatives had spent RM492,000 within the said two months.

"Besides, the former state speaker who himself was not a state representative, also managed to spend up to RM600,000 during the same period of time," he alleged.

Meanwhile, Lau also urged the police to investigate the MACC officers as there could be the possibility of a 'cover up'.

On July 16, Lau lodged a MACC report against former BN assemblyperson for Kampung Tunku, Wong Sai Hou, for allegedly misusing state funds amounting to RM500,000 within three months before the March general election last year.

According to him, Wong had spent up to RM30,000 a day for different functions in his constituency.

Similar complaints had also been lodged by Pakatan Rakyat reps to MACC before this after Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim first revealed the allegations last year.
