'Politicians in this country - as long as they are in the ruling coalition and no matter how badly tainted they are - can still come back to win in elections.'
Bagan Pinang: Umno picks Isa Samad
Yuvan: If Umno/BN wins this Bagan Pinang by-election, it will prove a few things to the people of Malaysia. Beyond any doubt, politicians in this country - as long as they are in the ruling coalition and no matter how badly tainted they are - can still come back to win in elections and also hold government positions!
The government should just stop talking about fighting corruption. It is downright shameful. On the other hand, if BN loses Bagan Pinang because it chose a wrong candidate, it will also prove that the coalition seriously lacks credible and honest leaders and that BN's days are numbered.
Politicians who had no respect and regard to their own party's rules and committed acts in violation of their party constitution have actually betrayed the trust of not only their party members but also that of the public in general.
Lee Hoong: They are digging their own graves again! Looks like they failed to learn from their mistakes. What will be Dr Mahathir Mohamad's reaction this time? Let's watch and see...
Brij Jayaram Kathiravelu: Bravo! Once again, Umno has decided to choose a 'colourful' individual as their candidate. Once again, Umno has decided to go with the most popular man at division level to ensure victory.
Once again, Umno has decided to spurn their responsibility to the rakyat and once again, Umno is careless and showing their carefree attitude towards the rakyat who demand a change into how things are done.
Tan Keng Sim: It would be interesting to see what Dr M says about this. Looks like Umno is really short of good candidates, or they are worried their own members will sabotage their campaign?
Amir Efendy: This is what we've been shouting all this while. Umno does not need opposition for it to crumple. It's doing it to itself.
If not, why else would they field someone who is tainted, and mind you, by their own standard as well. This is certainly beyond any right thinking citizen's comprehension.
Arun Paul: Boy, do I see a great 'gangsta' line-up! There goes our credit rating further! Day by day, I see clear signs of a nation rapidly wasting away into the sunset!
Muhammad Shakir: Umno will win this seat. But it will now have a higher chance of losing the whole country. You win some, but you lose more!
Samy Vely: Good times are here for people who made history: Mahathir Mohamad, S Samy Vellu, Abdullah Badawi, Rafidah Aziz, Ling Liong Sik, Rahim Thamby Chik, Aishah Gani, Chan Kong Choy and Zainuddin Maidin. They could be candidates in our next election!
Rocky: This is not good for Umno but good enough for the rakyat. Umno is an 'Islamic' party but has money politics, go figure! Ali Rustam is chief minister even after Umno charged him.
Umno dulu lain, kini dan selamanya memang tak boleh percaya dengan duit rakyat. (Umno was different before, now and forever it cannot be trusted with public funds)!
