DPM calls on PAS to give up Islamic state

Gk: Even before PAS comes to power under Pakatan Rakyat, Umno already announced Malaysia is an Islamic state. So, what is the different if Pakatan Rakyat takes over the government? Umno should spend its time getting rid of corruption instead of playing politics here.

Disgusted: There is not much difference between PAS and Umno when it comes to Islamisation. Whilst PAS boldly proclaims it, Umno in a cowardly way covertly does things. Except we can trust PAS to be more open and less opulent and corrupt than Umno and its BN associates who have robbed and plundered the country's resources. We'll take our chances with PAS and Pakatan Rakyat.

Christine Yong: What standing do you, DPM, have to suggest this? It has nothing to do with you, it is PAS' choice! At least an Islamic state will have less or no corruption. If there is, the corrupted ones will be dealt with in Islamic way.

US President Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize

Saengch: I'm having a fun time with the Nobel committee's logic. By extension, eloquent medical graduates can now receive the Nobel Prize in Medicine because we can "hope" they will find a cure for cancer. As for the accounting grad who credibly hopes to cure all corporate evil: Nobel Math Prize. How intellect fails at the committee level.

Smc77: I am a supporter of Barack Obama but I don't agree with the Nobel Committee on this award. If Obama can win the Nobel Prize, then I would recommend RPK (Raja Petra Kamarudin) to the Nobel Committee for consideration.

Nobel KPI: It seems you don't need to demonstrate results to win the Nobel Peace Prize. All you need to do is just to talk about it without even sweating. No wonder, despite so many having been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, the world has less and less peace. By awarding Obama the Peace Prize, the Nobel Committee has made a joke of itself.

Yuvan: Yes, I am surprised and quite shocked that Barack Obama is awarded the Nobel Peace Prize - just nine months into his presidency. I am not against it but I am disappointed to note that the Norwegian Nobel Committee did not consider other more deserving candidates nominated for the award.

Obama has a huge amount of work to do to strengthen and ensure permanent peace in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, in Iraq and in Afghanistan. It would have been appropriate and proper if the Nobel Committee could have waited and considered the award for Obama after his tenure as the US president, based on the fulfilment of his pledges and promises to achieve permanent peace in the Mideast and all over the world.

The award should have been based on Barack Obama's actual achievements and not just on his statement of "hope for a better future".

    'Fed policies precludes East Malaysia'

Justice Now: For once, I am proud of our minister! If all our ministers speak like this, and act like this, Sabah will not have the distinction of being the poorest state. Please speak more and in greater depth on the myriads of problems Sabahans are facing daily. After 46 years of exploitation and oppression, Sabah leaders must rise up and fight for the rights of our people!

Brij Jayaram Kathiravelu: Finally, one good man has stood up to be counted. Let's hope his ambition to be the next chief minister of Sabah is not short-lived. or, maybe Umno's supreme council will reprimand him, Umno-style and will later 'reward' him as the next CM.

Kgen: Rumblings of discontent from Sabah and Sarawak are frequently heard now. Would these rumblings surface if not for the Pakatan Rakyat victory in the Peninsula? This shows how a two-party system benefits everybody whether you support Pakatan or BN. It is to everybody's interest to make sure a two-party system survives.
