'Less force is still force, Hisham'

your say'No matter who assumes the role of the Perak speaker, the outcome of the Perak state assembly proceedings will not be acceptable by a large section of the Perak rakyat. The police should not intervene at all in the state assembly.'

Hisham to police: Use less force in Ipoh tomorrow

Hibiscus: No matter who assumes the role of the Perak speaker, the outcome of the Perak state assembly proceedings will not be acceptable by a large section of the Perak rakyat.

The police should not intervene at all in the state assembly. To do so is to violate the sanctity of the assembly. Let the two sides sit down and negotiate a settlement, one which will last until the next GE. Maybe for the first time in history we would see BN and Pakatan working together for the good of the rakyat.

If the negotiations fail, then the parties should refer the matter back to the people by holding fresh elections. Arguing over who has majority support or who is legitimate speaker or menteri besar is not helpful at all to the rakyat.

Habib RAK: Hishammuddin Hussein, you are doing a great job it outdoing your predecessor in the area of stupidity. Using less force is still using force.

The police has no right to be in the state assembly. Period.

Ong: When Hishammuddin said 'Use less force' he meant don't use the 'keris' against Pakatan Rakyat assemblypersons.

Just punch them the way that cop punched Tian Chua. According to a BN magistrate, it is okay to punch Pakatan politicians. If they retaliate, these people's representatives will be fined and sent to jail.

Francis T Rozario: He seems to be telling them to use force. What does he mean by 'less force'? Does that not mean to use force?

I thought he was a lawyer. What an insult to his 'alma mater'. I am sure if they see what kind of man graduated from their university, they may even consider revoking his degree.

Chan Boon Tek: 'Use less force'? I think the politically correct order to give is 'do not use force'. Period. There is no other way to it in a civil society.

Just look at the police in the UK watching over any protest or demonstration. We should be ashamed of our licensed bullies here.
Tan Kian Khim: Trying to be a 'hero' eh, Hisham, or trying to do some pre-emptive damage control before the police run amok again tomorrow? The police are paid to help Umno-BN stage and maintain their illegal coup d'etat in Perak. Utterly contemptible.

Malaysians Are Not Stupid: How much is less? Dear minister, there is no such thing as 'less'. What is less to one person is excessive to another.

So just give a clear instruction, i.e. 'Do not use force'. Any other instruction is a blanket cover for using force.

Perak Boleh: Yes, Hisham, just ask the police to break a few arms and legs, that is good enough. Maybe just use sewage water instead of chemically-laced water with the water cannons.

Disgusting. What this minister is saying is tantamount to instigating or sanctioning the use of force to prevent the Pakatan elected assemblypersons from attending the assembly tomorrow.

PaachNair: Once and for all, dissolve the Perak assembly and have new polls. After all, BN is now stronger then Pakatan after the Bagan Pinang by-election. Simple as ABC.

Tan Teng Wah: What kind of force used is considered excessive? And what sort of circumstance allows for using excessive force that is deemed to really, really necessary?

Before you give the answers, can you ensure that the police will act impartially?

Loyal Malaysian: My understanding is that according to the principle of separation of powers, the police have no right to be at the state assemblu.

But, of course, for the Umnoputras there's no such separation - all come under their domain to ensure the immoral and unscrupulous power grab is propped up at all costs.
